Explorer’s Guide Online is a commercial, maritime, licensing provider and recreational boating educator.
EGO’s mission is to “Train mariners to operate safely, navigate confidently, and act responsibly.” We accomplish this by providing the highest quality training possible and unbeatable support to help our students achieve their licensing & boating goals.
Explorer’s Guide Online is owned and operated by Capt. Bobby & Bekah. Capt. Bobby is a Coast Guard (CG) veteran who has professionally sailed throughout the world, including the Atlantic, Pacific, Bering Sea, Great Lakes, Persian Gulf, and Gulf of Mexico. Notably, Capt. Bobby served as the Commanding Officer of a CG cutter and earned his CG Cutterman’s pin for proficiency in seamanship. During his military & civilian career, he has trained countless international and domestic crews in seamanship, navigation, and vessel safety.
Bekah, a lifelong boater, grew up exploring Lake Superior’s waters and remote islands. Some of her fondest memories include surviving a storm on Lake Superior, deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, and cruising European rivers. Bekah is responsible for EGO’s marketing and technology. Bekah loves helping other adventurous females get involved in boating.
Founder & Captain
Marketing & First Mate
After transitioning from the Coast Guard, Captain Bobby earned his MBA from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and joined an industry leader in marine propulsion and technology. He loves working on next generation boating technology but nothing can replace time on the water. Captain Bobby founded Explorers Guide Online to share his love of the sea and help create a safe, sustainable maritime environment.
Whether you want to earn your Captain’s license to fulfill a lifelong dream, to exchange your day job for fishing gear, or to become a safer boater, Explorers Guide Online has the tools & resources to help you on your voyage. We want everyone to feel confident on the water, and we strive to provide the best Captain’s licensing and maritime training possible.
